Music Videos from Other Artists whom I like. Mostly under-the-radar artists, not necessarily “unsigned”.

Video – staying local again – Saucy Monkey “Awkward”

"Awkward" by Saucy Monky (Official Music Video)

Probably biased a bit by the great looks of a bunch of sparsely-clad ladies, but I really like the way this video was done. Their drummer is one of the busiest people I know. It’s all her fault I’m posting this now…

Oh yeah, the song has a great chorus too… not just eye candy this is. And with 13k+ views in a month it’s not doing too bad either.  So go ahead: click&enjoy !

Video Thursday – Staying local with Raelee Nikole

Yes, she might still be in high school but that doesn’t prevent her to dream big. Or sing wonderfully. Check out her cover of Tracy Chapman’s “Give me one Reason”. The guitar player on the original recording is Adam Levy. The same Adam Levy I opened a show for at Lestat’s in 2010. Great small world of music !

Video Thursday – Ed Sheeran in 2009 – “The City”

Ed Sheeran - The City (Live - June 6th 2009)
How things can change ! In this video of 2009, Ed Sheeran is playing at a friend’s house party. Now he’s selling out venues across the world ! If he can do this by working hard (like playing 300 shows in a year), others can too… Right, Josh? (No, this is not the highest quality recording, but this week it’s more about making a point)
Check out his hit single A-team right here.

Video Thursday – Belgian artist Selah Sue (US CD launch)

Selah Sue - This World (Official Video)
Get ready to be amazed. She might live just a block away from my parents in Belgium, but she’s definitely world class. Oh yeah, she doesn’t have her looks against her either.

To many, this young singer’s self-titled debut record is reminiscent of Amy Winehouse, but with an added reggae swagger. I had a hard time picking one song, but I think “This World” is a great introduction to her mix of soul, reggae and “organic hip-hop”.

Here’s a link to the FREE iTunes single that was released this week in the US, together with her album. Help her get in the charts ! .

To close off: a link to a very intimate version of a sad but passionate song, “Summertime Bring me Joy
