Over zijn EP “Last Place”, schreef de San Diego Troubadour “ Durant is a solid songwriter, with a lot of potential” en de airplay op lokale radio werd goed ontvangen: “ LOVE the song “Appropriate” sounded good on the air tonight..” – Mookie (Radio Sophie).

Twee nieuwe singles werden opgenomen met Grammy winnaar Alan Sanderson (engineering, o.a. Rolling Stones, Ryan Adams, Fleetwood Mac).

Luisteraars over “Fires&Earthquakes:” “This definitely has a Fleetwood Mac feel that I enjoy very much. ” en “Awesome acoustic sound… […] I could see this song in a Quentin Tarantino movie”

Short Press Bio Carl Durant

After an 11 year stint in San Diego, CA, Belgian singer songwriter Carl Durant brings his signature sound of Cinematic Pop-Rock back to his home country. During the  stay in California, Carl developed a European sound (think Ed Sheeran) infused with the West Coast songwriter influence of Jason Mraz, Tom Waits and the many great local artist. In Belgium he now performs with his live band “The Lost Kings”, while still regularly playing solo in intimate venues or living rooms.

About his self-released EP “Last Place”, the San Diego Troubadour wrote “Durant is a solid songwriter, with a lot of potential” and some airplay on local radio stations was well received: “LOVE the song “Appropriate” sounded good on the air tonight..” – Mookie (KPRI).

His latest singles “Fires&Earthquakes” and “No Matter What” were recorded with Grammy winning engineer Alan Sanderson (Rolling Stones, Elton John, Ryan Adams, Fleetwood Mac,…) in San Diego.

Listeners say about the first single: “This definitely has a Fleetwood Mac feel that I enjoy very much. “

The video for “No Matter What” received over 10k views in its first week after release.

Carl Durant is working on a new EP and booking shows for the second half of 2016.

Overview of key past shows can be found here.

While living in San Diego (before 2013),

Carl played over 100 shows sharing the bill with Eagles songwriter Jack Tempchin, Adam Levy, Belgian (platinum-selling) artist Milow, iTunes&Bilboard charting Jesse Thomas, Platinum Hit finalist Jes Hudak and San Diego Music Award winners Josh Damigo and Colin Clyne. He performed at benefit shows for the Humane Society in San Diego and VH1 Save The Music Foundation in LA.

His sound…

… could be described as cinematic pop-rock that lingers between Jason Mraz and Tom Waits with a hint of REM. Starting from a base of acoustic guitar, the recordings mix in electronic or other acoustic sounds to create a “nice aural landscape” [dixit Michael Laskow from Taxi] .

His debut single “Appropriate” has been aired numerous times on Radio Sophie, KPRI, Rock105.3FM and 91x in San Diego. Sonically, comparisons with Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m on fire” and with Clannad were made. Other tracks from his EP “Last Place” were aired on KPRI.

His 2015 single “Fires&Earthquakes” was aired on several radio stations in Europe and beyond. End of 2015 a Live EP was released on Bandcamp.

January 2016 the new single “No Matter What” was put in the play list of the largest national radio station (Radio 2) in Belgium and released on 2/14. A video featuring a group of young dancers was released on YouTube on 2/17, gathering over 10k views in the first week.
